**Position Information**:
With a current enrolment of 83 students, Lomandra School supports students Years 5-12 with severe challenging behaviours, trauma backgrounds and complex mental health conditions. There are eight designated BD classes and five designated ED classes. Each class is supported by a teacher and a School Learning Support Officer. Teaching and learning programs are highly individualised, with a balanced focus on academic, behavioural and social/emotional skills. Lomandra School operates an integration model, with the overall focus of teaching and learning being to prepare students for transition to home schools, further education, employment and community life.

In addition to the main campus, Lomandra provides teaching and learning programs to students:

- Placed in the Finns Road and Sherwood Programs, which consist of three classes for students-in-care. This facility is a collaboration between Department of Education and Department of Communities and Justice. The program currently supports 15 students, Years 5-12, who live in a safe and secure closed facility in a neighbouring suburb.
- Accessing the Lithgow Street Return to School Program (RTSP). The RTSP implements teaching strategies to assist students whose attendance and return to formal schooling requires support due to disengagement and/or suspension.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. High levels of emotional intelligence with the skills to lead and manage a complex SSP which supports students with trauma backgrounds, behaviour disorders and complex mental health conditions with a proven capacity to advocate for, and hold high expectations of, student learning outcome attainment.

2. Highly visible, inclusive and collaborative leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to build the capacity of all staff to drive a culture of continuous improvement for students in the ED/BD setting.

3. High-level communication skills that demonstrate the capacity to engage stakeholders to develop positive, strengths-based programs to support student learning, wellbeing and post-Lomandra pathways.

4. Proven ability to develop culturally responsive school programs that engage students with complex needs by fostering authentic relationships with families and external agencies, to improve outcomes for all students.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
