**The Role**
As the EL1 Work Health and Safety Manager you are responsible to the Director of RMC-W for overall WHS compliance within an integrated workforce. Your role is to perform and achieve complex to very complex work health and safety work by ongoing monitoring, auditing and facilitating rectification of WHS issues.

Your role supervises an APS6 WHS Officer and collectively you undertake safety governance and assurance activities (both desktop and infield) associated with the delivery of maintenance work through the various contractual arrangements.

You will engage with a wide variety of stakeholders on issues and be required to negotiate, influence stakeholders and make decisions in order to achieve business outcomes.
You will provide advice regarding relevant WHS legislation, Defence policy, industry best practice, and the status of maintenance safety as implemented by the Regional Maintenance Provider (Babcock).

**About our Team**
Both WHS roles sit within the Business Management section, however are key enablers to the safe and compliant delivery of maintenance. These positions will be ensuring that all maintenance conducted by the Regional Maintenance Provider and other Commonwealth Agencies will conform to relevant WHS legislation.
- Diploma or Cert IV in WHS (highly desirable)
- Experience managing a team, including mentoring, coaching and developing others.
- 3-5 experience in WHS in a maritime, manufacturing, metal fabrication or construction environment (preferred but not essential)
- Have the ability to respond to WHS incidents and issues in a proactive, positive and dynamic way.
- The ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and high level interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships.
- Maintain currency in WHS knowledge and management.
