**The Role**
Naval Construction Branch (NCB) are seeking a dynamic and skilled individual for the role EL1 Hull & Structure Lead WA and become a valuable addition to the team.
The Hull and Structure Lead will be required to work in a complex operating environment in Henderson, WA. This position supports the implementation and delivery of continuous shipbuilding and will be an integral part of the Technical area within NCB with the opportunity to support the design and analysis of hull and external structures.
The key responsibilities are:
- Manage a team of specialist personnel in Hull and Structure group.
- Manage assurance activities related to fabrication and construction of ship assemblies.
- Provide specialist advice during construction.
- Identify and evaluate technical risk during construction and testing.
- Develop strategies for the review of specifications, plans, procedures and design documents.
- Conduct specialist reviews of technical reports
**About our Team**
The Naval Construction Branch (NCB) is accountable for the assurance of ship construction, set-to work and transit of vessels constructed at the Osborne Naval Shipyard and Henderson precinct. We have branches in Osborne, SA and in Henderson, WA and a smaller presence in Port Macquarie, NSW.
NCB is furthering continuous naval shipbuilding and growing sovereign capability by overseeing the construction to ensure quality and standards are met, storing shipbuilding knowledge, lessons learnt and developing standard shipbuilding processes and procedures for construction.
NCB will oversee the construction of many different Navy vessels including Offshore Patrol Vessels, Hunter Class Frigates, Young Endeavour, Mine Hunter Vessels, Evolved Cape Class, Pacific Patrol Boats, and Nuclear powered submarines. Working at NCB will enable you to be at the grassroots of continuous naval shipbuilding, where you are part of a working shipyard, being able to see and contribute to the vessels delivered and used in Service by Navy.
NCB has highly skilled and diverse shipbuilding experienced team; this experience will be shared to grow your hands-on construction knowledge. You will work alongside Navy personnel, internal project management officers and Prime contractors. The opportunity for technical staff to undertake industry placement is also available.
