**Position Information**:
Eden Marine High School is a comprehensive rural secondary school with an enrolment of 570 students. The school is located in the far south coast of NSW and marine education is an important feature of the school's curriculum and culture. Our school community is culturally diverse, with 13% of students identifying as having an Aboriginal background. A Support Unit comprised of four classes provides specialist support. The school offers a broad academic and vocational curriculum to cater for the diverse needs of students and is focused on ensuring all students develop the skills they need to be successful both now and in the future.

Students participate in a wide range of learning experiences that include a broad range of cultural, creative and performing arts, community and sporting programs. We have fostered strong partnerships with universities, local businesses and services, partner schools and community groups to support student learning and wellbeing. Students represent the school in a range of cultural, sporting activities and extra-curricula activities.

The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices. Explicit teaching informed by data and enhanced by the effective use of technology to support learning underpins our practice. Strengthening partnerships with parents and carers, innovative evidence-based teaching and wellbeing strategies, with a particular emphasis on inclusion and continuity of learning at key transition points, is a key focus.

- Demonstrated calm, collaborative and effective management and communication skills that promote mutual respect between students, staff and families, enhance a sense of belonging and build authentic connections with parents, community and external agencies to strengthen productive partnerships that improve educational outcomes for all students.
- Demonstrated capacity to be a visible, approachable and proactive leader with the ability to work as a collaborative member of the school executive team to lead and evaluate data-informed whole school initiatives in alignment with the school's negotiated targets and strategic directions.
- Proven ability to strategically lead high impact professional learning to enhance a culture of evidence-informed teaching practice and high expectations for learning success.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
