**Position Information**:
Kiama High School is a large comprehensive school with 851 students, including 48 Aboriginal students and three support classes, located on the NSW south coast. We provide a quality learning environment which encourages collaboration and innovation to enrich the lives of all students. Staff are committed to delivering high academic standards in a positive, nurturing setting. Our Positive Behaviour for Learning core values of Respect, Responsibility and Excellence underpin all aspects of school life fostering an affirming focus on developing the whole person - educationally, socially and emotionally. The school has an effective well-developed student wellbeing framework. Current priority areas include a focus on high expectations, explicit teaching and the cultivation of a dynamic and inclusive community. The school has a strong focus on improving student literacy and numeracy outcomes through a program of teacher professional learning. **Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, a highly visible and proactive leader who works effectively with the school executive team, to enhance the capacity of teaching staff in line with the school plan, and improve student learning outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead and monitor engaging teaching programs in line with the implementation of new curricula that build a strong culture of student learning, success and wellbeing.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing demands including daily operations, whole school organisation and events.
Demonstrated collaborative leadership skills that promote trusting relationships and partnerships to promote a positive school culture, student, staff and community wellbeing.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
