About the Business Unit
The Office of the Public Advocate (OPA) is an independent statutory agency that aims to protect the rights and enhance the position of people with disabilities in Victoria.The Corporate Services Unit provides a comprehensive range of IT/Communications, Finance and Procurement, Human Resources, Records Management and Administrative Support services to OPA.

About the Role
This newly created position will have responsibility for preparing OPA's annual budgets, monthly financial reporting, oversight of monthly financial transactions, management and reporting on trust fund balances, preparation of the year-end financial report and conducting operational and financial audits.
The role will have responsibility for providing comprehensive financial services to OPA management in relation to funding bids, project costing and compliance with financial policy and processes.

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Prepare and submit OPA's annual budget via the Axiom system in conjunction with input from the Public Advocate, Deputy, Public Advocate and unit managers.
- Provide comprehensive financial and budget support. This includes providing monthly financial reports to OPA managers comparing budget with actual performance, analysing variances between budget and actual performance, determining monthly transfers to OPA trust funds and providing the monthly status of trust fund balances, providing oversight of preparation of invoices to external parties that fund some OPA functions and projects, ensure receipt of payments and oversee procurement and accounts payable functions.
- Complete monthly journal entries to reflect transfers of expenditure between appropriation and trust charge codes, oversee compliance with the payment of accounts via Oracle or Corporate Purchasing Card, reconcile fortnightly payroll transactions with the general ledger and determine monthly expenditure accruals.

About You
- Expertise in using Oracle Financials, Axiom Production, Business Intelligence and iProcurement modules in a public sector environment.
- Experience in finance and budget management and reporting, with an excellent knowledge of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, processes and budget and reporting cycles.

- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
