Sydney, Australia NSW Teaching Service Full time

**Position Information**:
The Centre of Excellence is a unique setting within the NSW educational landscape. The Centre was established with the explicit purpose of raising the profile of new and emerging educational pathways and career opportunities in Agriculture, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for students, teachers, and families across NSW. The co-location of the Centre with Richmond TAFE and Western Sydney University, Hawkesbury Campus, provides an ideal partnership to support outreach programs to Western Sydney schools.

The Centre of Excellence plays an important role in the educational landscape for government schools in Greater Sydney, particularly in the areas of: Agriculture; STEM; Aboriginal Knowledges and Language; Sustainability; Careers Education; and transdisciplinary and design thinking pedagogies. All programs are connected to the Centre’s partnered learning model, using transdisciplinary and design thinking pedagogies and connect students to real world post school career/learning pathways. They explicitly link to areas of employment growth in the NSW economy, including agriculture, aviation, cultural knowledge and STEM. Once the permanent site is fully operational and the outreach program is consolidated, the Centre of Excellence may also take on a more structured role in teacher professional learning and in pre-service teacher development.

The Centre has established strong partnerships with industry and tertiary providers, facilitating opportunities for students and teachers to engage with the sectors of the economy in Western Sydney that are experiencing growth. In establishing these partnerships, the Centre has developed its curriculum in a partnered learning model, where industry experts and knowledge are aligned to syllabus content and students have an opportunity to engage in industry immersions.

The Centre currently provides syllabus-based programs, High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) programs and teacher professional learning for schools across Greater Sydney and NSW within it’s state outreach programs. It also serves the AgSTEM students enrolled as shared enrolments with Richmond HS in Years 7-10, along with it’s full time AgSTEM Stage 6 students.

AgSTEM students at the Centre are enrolled in a shared enrolment model with Richmond HS in Years 7-10, with students attending the Centre three days a week and Richmond HS two days a week. All agricultural programs are taught at the Centre. The Centre also delivers accelerated Stage 6 programs in Agriculture and Primary Industries. In 2025 the Centre commences its first full time Stage 6 cohort. When the school is fully operational the enrolment will be 390 students 7-12 plus K-12 students in schools across NSW. This includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the AgSTEM streams as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Outreach programs across NSW.
