Position Information

Thomas Reddall High School, located in Ambarvale on Dharawal country, is a comprehensive and growing high school with a current enrolment of approximately 500 students. The school proudly supports a diverse student population, with approximately 20% of students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 24% coming from non-English speaking backgrounds. Thomas Reddall High School features a seven-class support unit that caters to students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, and mental health needs. We foster a vibrant and inclusive school culture that prioritises holistic learning, wellbeing, attendance, and positive behaviour. At Thomas Reddall High School the position of HSIE teacher has responsibilities to deliver engaging, syllabus aligned lessons that develop students' critical thinking and understanding of history and geography. They must differentiate learning to meet diverse student needs, embed literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills, and foster inclusive and respectful classrooms. They are responsible for assessing and reporting on student progress, maintaining professional practice, and upholding DoE policies. They also have a duty to promote values, cultural awareness, and social responsibility, preparing students to participate effectively in contemporary Australian society

Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach Ancient History, Modern History, History 7-10 and Geography 7-10.

  2. Ability to work as a team member and to communicate effectively with students, school staff and community members.

  3. Capacity to implement effective and supportive classroom management practices to encourage all students to engage with their learning.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
