Our client a privately owned construction business based in Newcastle NSW, currently employs up to 150 people across multiple locations on the east coast of Australia. Due to rapid growth, they are seeking to appoint a General Manager - People & Culture to manage the human resources function across the business and drive people and culture strategy and operations.

The role of General Manager - People & Culture has been created to join the executive leadership team. Reporting to the CEO and leading the people function, the GM - People & Culture will be a strategic and operational partner and advisor to the business.

This is truly a generalist role in which you will work both operationally and strategically, leading the human resources function internally and championing a positive and inclusive working environment. This position is critical to providing leadership, strategic direction, and the provision of high quality, contemporary human resource service delivery to the organisation.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide guidance and leadership to the executive leadership team on all employee matters
- Lead the end-to-end People & Culture function
- Leading company change with people-related initiatives
- A continuous improvement mindset, that enhances the overall employee experience
- Drive high performance across the business, developing strategies to increase engagement and retention
- Developing effective professional relationships with leaders by providing accurate and timely advice to influence the delivery of superior business outcomes
- Lead, coach, and mentor managers throughout the business
- Actively contribute to the executive leadership team with a focus on organisational leadership
- Drive innovative and modernised HR policies and practices to ensure they are aligned

**About You**:
You should be a self-motivated leader, highly organised, and able to work efficiently and collaboratively holding qualifications and experience:

- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a business-related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership position
