As part of our Environmental Science & Policy Unit, you will play a crucial role in advancing our environmental strategies and policies, working collaboratively to influence positive change and sustainability practises across the Shire.
**Position Overview**:
The Resilience Strategy Officer will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies that enhance the resilience of Sutherland Shire Council and its communities against various environmental challenges. You will engage with a range of stakeholders, conduct robust research, and provide critical insights that drive effective decision-making and policy formulation.
Your role will involve close collaboration with internal teams and external consultants, ensuring that our resilience strategies are comprehensive and well-integrated into the Council’s broader objectives.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in the research and development of the Resilience Strategy, liaising with various Council divisions to assess their needs and challenges.
- Conduct thorough analyses of research and data to inform policy recommendations for Council leadership.
- Prepare reports and presentations for Council and community stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of resilience issues.
- Assist in organising workshops and educational events to educate and identify key areas of concern relating to Resilience.
**Who we are looking for**:
We are looking for a motivated individual with a strong background in environmental science or a related field who is passionate about sustainability and community resilience.
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Emergency Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in Environmental Science, Engineering, Management, or Emergency Management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, programs, and strategies.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of shocks and stresses and issues related to resilience planning, legislation and strategies.
- Strong research, analytical, and communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- A Class C driver's licence is required, and a willingness to obtain a working with children clearance is preferred.
- Please note working out of hours and weekends may be required.

- **Package**:$96,668 - $102,469 gross p.a. plus 11.5% superannuation.
- **Hours of work**:Opportunity up until 30th July 2026. Permanent Full Time 35 hours per week, 19 day month flex time arrangement available.
