**Principal Network Business Development Specialist**

The world is rapidly moving towards decarbonisation, with clean and renewable energy sources set to power our lives, industries, and economies. At Western Power, within the Customer Decarbonisation function, we are at the forefront of this transition, working to identify and facilitate the connection of large-scale, customer-funded renewable generation and storage projects to our network.

We are excited to offer a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Principal Network Business Development Specialist to join our team at the Perth office.

We are seeking an experienced professional with a deep and broad understanding of network utility regulation, technology, and the key considerations involved in the justification and development of impactful, large-scale energy projects.

**Your Role in Action**

This role is responsible for identifying external factors that impact the way our major customers utilise electricity which could be factored into the development of the long-term network plans, as well as identifying opportunities to use this change in behaviour and technology as potential non-network solutions.

Accountabilities also include:

- Seeking out and developing the pipeline of large renewable, load and storage opportunities as they form within industry.
- Engaging with external organisations and government bodies so that Western Power has early indication of these opportunities and ensure that a formalised regular stream of information is distributed to internal stakeholders to enable medium to long term business planning activities.
- Help model and guide these projects from concept to initial enquiry stages.
- Identifying and developing the thinking regarding how emerging major industry technologies, revenue growth opportunities and industry innovation within the energy environment will impact on Western Power’s medium to long term business planning.
- Provide high level in-depth thought leadership, analysis, and guidance on how Western Power will transfer external emerging technologies, revenue growth opportunities and industry innovation into its internal long-term business strategy, bringing more strategic and commercial solution options to our major customers.

**What Makes You a Great Fit**
- A seasoned professional, with comprehensive and broad understanding of network utility regulation, technology, and the requirements this place on justification and development of projects.
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or related discipline
- Recognised as a thought leader in areas of focus in the industry.
- Significant experience in new revenue generation, product development, consumer insights, strategic thinking, and planning.
- Proven track record of effective management and membership of high-profile planning teams.
- Proven track record of delivering robust plans and project justifications including e.g. feasibility studies etc.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills - in particular, the ability to prepare and present compelling justifications for emerging technological and or innovate strategies and programs for consumption by a range of internal and external stakeholders.

By joining Western Power, you will contribute to powering a cleaner energy future. We are dedicated to fostering career development and promoting a healthy work-life balance, empowering you to drive innovation as we develop a network that will serve the Western Australian community for generations. You will also benefit from a range of perks and opportunities, including:

- Over 50% of our employment opportunities are driven by career progression.
- Flexible work arrangements to support part time work, working hours and working from home arrangements.
- The opportunity to purchase up to four weeks of additional leave per year.
- Access to salary packaging, social club activities, and discounted health insurance and gym membership.
- An award-winning employee recognition and benefits programme.
- An innovative team culture that’s enabling the transition to renewable energy and decarbonisation.
- In addition to standard leave, enjoy three wellness leave days each year.
