The Commissioner's Office manages the day-to-day administrative commitments and correspondence of the Commissioner.
As the Chief Executive Officer of the Queensland Police Service, the Commissioner represents the organisation at local, community, state, national and international forums as well as ceremonial functions. The Commissioner's Office provides direct support to the Commissioner and ensures efficiency in the Commissioner's functional role.
The Principal Executive Officer to the Commissioner provides high level professional secretarial services including managing the Commissioner's diary and appointment management, call screening and correspondence handling. The Principal Executive Officer composes and prepares timely and accurate reports, briefings, ministerial and other high level correspondence including supporting material for speeches and presentations.
They also organise and coordinate meetings, conferences, ceremonies and other executive events ensuring supporting documentation, agenda papers and reports are available. The Principal Executive Officer also oversees the Commissioner's Office administrative officer's.
Your key accountabilities
**The core capability requirements for this role are**:
- Provide confidential support and advice to the Commissioner on strategic and operational issues in a fast-paced and complex working environment. Lead and develop the executive administration team, providing advice, coaching and guidance on a broad range of matters impacting the operation of the Office of the Commissioner. Provide high quality, well researched advice to the Commissioner and the executive leadership members on matters impacting office operations. Review and provide recommendations to the Commissioner on a broad range of parliamentary matters and executive response correspondence. Establish and maintain high level partnerships with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Commissioner to improve business practices and service delivery of the Office of the Commissioner. Deliver secretariat support for SLT meetings, by drafting agendas, coordinating the collation and distribution of SLT meeting packs and recording and following up action items. Collaborate with the Commissioner on diary commitments, to ensure the Commissioner is briefed well in advance and provided time to review materials required for internal and external meetings, speeches and special events. Provide well researched advice to the Commissioner on international/foreign affairs issues including forward planning for domestic and overseas engagements.
