The role will be supporting the Office of the Deputy Director-General and other business units across the Department to prepare and coordinate submissions, briefs, correspondence, reports and operational planning as required.
**The Principal Executive Officer's key responsibilities are**: - Provide timely and accurate strategic and operational information, advice and analysis to the Deputy Director-General and the senior leadership team on asset management, financial, human resource, IT, information management another administrative and business issues. Develop and maintain strong professional networks with other areas of the department, in particular Business Services within the Office of the Deputy Director-General to ensure effective integration, coordination and liaison occurs. Coordinate and research the provision of authoritative, professional and timely advice to the Deputy Director on key issues pertaining to planning and performance management, information management, ministerial and executive support, and program and project management, including the analyses of findings and the recommendation of appropriate courses of action. Manage and monitor projects as directed by the Deputy Director-General, particularly in relation to business and service improvement initiatives, and report to the Deputy Director-General on their progress and outcomes. Actively participate in and contribute to the good governance and objectives of the Office of the Deputy Director-General. Lead and supervise a team to achieve operational and strategic objectives for the branch, directorate and the department. Manage the preparation of all briefing material for consideration by the Minister and the Director-General, as well as the flow of information between the department, other departments (e.g. interagency consultation on whole of government activities, or significant policy initiatives with cross agency implications) and the Minister. Prepare and coordinate submissions, briefs, correspondence, reports and operational planning as required.

Travel is a requirement of this position; therefore, it is a requirement that the applicant hold a current 'C' Class Drivers licence.
