**The Role**

The Alliance Sustainment Support Directorate leads on the implementation of AUSMIN Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul & Upgrade (MRO&U) initiatives and exploration of co-sustainment opportunities with our international partners, and leads on the implementation of the US Regional Sustainment Framework. The team is now broadening their remit to encompass the Indo-pacific and engagement with our close regional international partners.

You will be responsible for developing and achieving AUSMIN directed outcomes, contribute directly to the implementation of National Defence Strategy, Defence Industry Development Strategy, and broader strategic armament cooperation and co-sustainment outcomes. As the Assistant Director you will exercise considerable independence and perform a leadership role, set work that aligns with implementation and delivery of the Sovereign Defence Industry Priorities across domains and effectively communicate expected outcomes.

**About our Team**

CASG Industry Engagement Division is a newly established Division, leading work under the Defence Industry Development Strategy to partner and support Industry in order to build Defence’s Industrial Base to create a stronger, more secure Australia. This includes how Defence engages with industry to better inform industry of our needs and understanding industry’s capabilities.

This also incorporates the facilitation of co-sustainment outcomes and exploring maintenance, overhaul, repair and upgrade (MRO&U) of allied and partner critical capabilities in the region to support increased operational preparedness closer to the point of need. Our alliance relationship with the US is fundamental to this work and there is a growing necessity to deepen relationships across the Indo-Pacific with our regional partners. The CASG Alliance Sustainment Support Team is responsible for the delivery co-sustainment cooperation with our close allies and partners, and enable operational readiness to our warfighters at the time and place of need.

They will possess strong leadership credentials required to establish regional sustainment strategies that support defence materiel cooperation, establish and manage key international and industry relationships, and engagement activities. They should be able to demonstrate:

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills (including cross-cultural sensitivities);
- Good understanding of Defence capability priorities, capability acquisition and sustainment programs, and SDIPs;
- Display flexibility in the face of dynamic and changing priorities, and ability to advance multiple portfolios simultaneously;
- Demonstrate sound judgement, good analytical skills with an innovative approach to problem-solving; and
- Understanding of and ability to interpret domestic and international policy, and legislation.
