**Job Description** Driving SEO Strategy for this individual contributors role**, engaged as the Head of SEO, you will lead Rome2Rio’s global SEO strategy, guiding our search visibility, organic growth, and content-driven initiatives. Your purpose is to expand Rome2Rio’s reach, strengthen our online authority, and drive a seamless experience for users seeking multi-modal travel information. This role will significantly impact our market presence, guiding our product to be the leading travel planning resource for audiences across diverse geographies. This role is crucial for ensuring that the web presence grows across the globe, using different languages and covering diverse travel intents with data.
**SEO Strategy**
- SEO Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute an innovative, data and AI driven SEO strategy aligned with Rome2Rio’s growth objectives, ensuring increased organic traffic, improved keyword rankings, and enhanced user engagement.
- Content Optimization: Oversee SEO-driven content strategy, focusing on valuable, user-centric content creation, keyword expansion and optimization, and SEO-friendly content architecture across all travel modes, destinations and intents.
- Technical SEO: Collaborate with engineering and product teams to implement technical SEO best practices, including site architecture, page load optimization, mobile-friendliness, schema markup, and URL structuring.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs) to monitor performance, generate actionable insights, and refine strategies based on data-driven analysis.
- SEO Testing & Experimentation: Lead SEO testing initiatives, from A/B tests to organic CTR and engagement experiments, to continuously refine and optimize user interaction and search performance.
- International SEO: Oversee Rome2Rio’s international SEO efforts to target multilingual and multicultural markets, ensuring compliance with regional guidelines and optimal user experiences across various locales.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Omios Content and Organic Marketing teams to ensure consistent SEO integration and brand alignment. Coordinate with engineering to address performance improvements and technical SEO needs.
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage, mentor, and develop an SEO first thinking, fostering a culture of collaboration, learning, and continuous improvement in line with Rome2Rio’s objectives.
- Competitor Analysis: Conduct regular competitor analysis to identify market trends, opportunities, and potential threats, adjusting strategies to maintain competitive edge.
Stay Current with Industry Trends: Keep up-to-date with SEO, search engine, and algorithm changes, sharing insights with the wider R2R and Omio team and adjusting strategies as needed.
**Qualifications**
- Experience: 7+ years in SEO, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior role, preferably within the travel, e-commerce, or technology industry.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of technical SEO, web development, data integration and experience with SEO tools (Search Console, Ahrefs, Crawler etc.). Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Sitespeed and JavaScript fundamentals is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Highly skilled in data analysis, with the ability to extract meaningful insights, track KPIs, and make informed, strategic decisions as well as pushing them to execution.
- International SEO Knowledge: Demonstrated experience with international SEO, including managing multilingual and multi-regional landing-page systems.
- Leadership: Strong mentoring and communication skills are essential. This role needs leadership skills and the ability to influence product and tech teams to be successful.
- Project Management: Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
- Passion for Travel & Innovation: A passion for the travel industry, digital innovation, and user experience enhancement as well as AI driven content approaches.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications in SEO/digital marketing are a plus.
