The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
The Registrar Court Coordinator at Moorabbin Magistrates Court reports to the Senior Registrar, Moorabbin Magistrates Court.
The Registrar Court Coordinator is responsible for the effective listing of cases in the Moorabbin Magistrates Court and is in conjunction with the Senior Registrar and Regional Co-ordinating Magistrate, responsible for case flow management within the Court, ensuring all legislative requirements are met.
The role has a case management component as well as team leadership and people-management components. The position requires an advanced understanding of court listing practices and procedures, highly developed negotiation and team leadership abilities along with an advanced understanding of the Court's protocols and procedures as well as highly developed team-leadership experience.
About you
- As a Registrar of the Magistrates' Court, Under limited direction perform appropriate legal, administrative and quasi-judicial functions relating to the day-to-day operations of the Court registry.
- Assist in the development, evaluation and implementation of new policies and procedures that enhance the Court's operations and assist in achieving the Court's strategic objectives.
- Manage the listing functions for the Moorabbin Magistrates Court, monitor and assess case workloads and listing practices and procedures and develop guidelines in accordance with listing protocols.
- Supervise staff, including the promotion of professional development and rotation to maximise learning opportunities, provision of knowledge and skills and provide regular feedback regarding performance.
