The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.

Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future.

Booderee National Park, with its coastal habitats is one of three national parks, leased by their Aboriginal owners to the Director of National Parks, and jointly managed by Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. In addition to ongoing management of the park’s natural and cultural heritage, this branch also looks after Parks Australia’s corporate services from the office in Canberra including, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Customer Experience and Destination Planning.

Beyond the spinifex sand plains of arid central Australia lies Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, one of three national parks leased by their Aboriginal owners to the Director of National Parks, and jointly managed by Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. Parks Australia assists with ongoing management of the park’s natural and cultural heritage.

The maintenance section at UKTNP is responsible for the essential services provision to the Mutitjulu community and the national Park. This section also carries out maintenance to all parks infrastructure and assets, including visitor infrastructure, fleet, staff residences, radio system and more.

**The Job**
In accordance with the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Management Plan and Board of Managements vision, under the general direction of the Manager Park Operations, lead, coordinate and administer infrastructure projects, repairs and maintenance projects and the management of an essential services network within a project management framework, including:

- implement infrastructure projects, repairs and maintenance programs,
- prepare reports regarding infrastructure projects, outcomes and analysis of infrastructure requirements,
- provide leadership and direction for a small team of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park maintenance staff Provide strategic analysis and advice on asset management approaches and deliver sustainable capital works programs, operational projects and maintenance activities,
- manage the Parks infrastructure operational budget including procurement, contract management and reporting and Implement the Chief Executive Instructions,
- provide support and advice to contractors and Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park staff on contract issues, asset management and maintenance, infrastructure projects, and park administration programs,
- undertake Contract and Project Management in accordance with the Departments policies, guidelines and frameworks, including monitoring and maintaining financials within the projects and contracts,
- lead, influence and collaborate within the team and across sections in pursuit of team goals, being adaptable and receptive to new ideas and adjust easily to changing work demands.
