Brisbane, Australia Civil Mining & Construction Full time

Competitive salary package
- Full-time permanent position with immediate start
- Impactful role in a rapidly growing company

Extensive experience in procurement within the civil construction industry? We have a challenging, business critical role where you can thrive, grow, and develop.

**About Us**:
**About the role**:
You will be based either in CMC’s Brisbane Office or on the project site located north of the Sunshine Coast, depending on your location.

While the role will primarily involve office-based work, there may be travel to project sites, supplier locations, and other key venues as required.

You will play a critical role in driving the success of CMC’s civil construction projects through efficient and strategic procurement practices, contributing to the company’s reputation for delivering exceptional outcomes.

Reporting to the Project Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for managing the sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of goods, services, and equipment required for CMC's civil construction projects.

This role will involve liaising closely with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal project teams to ensure all procurement activities meet CMC’s policies, project timelines, and budget requirements.

Whilst it is not essential that you are a qualified Civil Engineer, a solid understanding of civil construction projects and their unique demands would naturally be advantageous.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Supplier and Subcontractor Management**

Identifying, evaluating, and developing strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the supply of high-quality goods and services. This includes conducting market research, managing tender processes, and maintaining a prequalified supplier database.

**Procurement Process Coordination**

The execution of end-to-end procurement activities, including preparing tender packages, evaluating bids, awarding contracts, issuing purchase orders, and managing variations or contract amendments. You will ensure all procurement aligns with project-specific requirements and CMC policies.

**Negotiation and Cost Management**

Leading negotiations to secure favourable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules, contributing to cost savings without compromising quality or compliance.

**Compliance and Governance**

Ensuring all procurement activities adhere to relevant legislation, industry standards, and internal policies, including those relating to safety, quality, and environmental management.

**Documentation and Reporting**

Maintaining detailed and accurate procurement records will be essential. This includes supplier contracts, purchase orders, and invoices. You will prepare regular reports for management, highlighting procurement performance, cost savings, and supplier compliance.

**Coordination with Project Teams**

Working closely with Department Managers, Engineers, and site teams to understand specific project requirements to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.

**Risk Management and Mitigation**

Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing strategies to mitigate them, such as establishing alternative supplier arrangements and ensuring robust contractual protections.

**Continuous Improvement**

You will be expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes, identifying efficiencies and opportunities for innovation within CMC’s operations.

**About you**:
Ideally you will have a degree in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or another relevant field.

Either way, you will need:

- At least three years’ experience in a procurement, supply chain, or contract management role, preferably in a construction, engineering, or infrastructure environment;
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure value for money while maintaining quality standards;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders;
- Solid organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines;
- Familiarity with contract management principles and an understanding of Australian procurement regulations and standards;
- Advanced computer literacy, particularly with procurement and inventory management systems, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

**Interested?**:
We respect your time and interest so you will receive a response, whether shortlisted or not.

However, please note that unfortunately visa sponsorship is not offered for this role.
