**Job Description**:
The Position
The Contract Manager will work closely with other Albemarle and EPCM contract managers and procurement personnel based in the southwest region and the procurement team in Perth, to support stakeholders during project delivery and safeguard Albemarle’s commercial interests. In order to do this, the Contract Manager will require sound understanding of payments and claims, good change management practices, the ability to educate and mentor members of the KEP team and support a cycle of continuous improvement.
Governance and optimal execution of capital services and investments are consistent with global capital procurement strategies and procedures, depending on market conditions and project timing. Responsible for performing daily project contract management following project strategy and working plan.
Monitor and drive project service activities on schedule and fully comply with project requirements. Identify project service contract risk and work with management for mitigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day post-Award contract management of complex packages including coordination and management of mobilisation activities and contractor performance.
- Compliance with regional and global capital procurement policies, procedures, processes and reporting requirements.
- Identification of gaps in policies, procedures, processes and reporting requirements, and development and improvement as part of the continuous improvement cycle.
- Support local contract management requirements identified by project stakeholders, including the full suite of all pre-Award activities, where required.
- Ensure contract compliance by all contracting parties, identify deviations and risks for management and escalation where required, mitigate potential or actual changes.
- Ensure project communication, directions and site activities align with delegations of authority, RACI and other appropriate regional Capital Project expectations.
- Educate, inform and support project management personnel as required.
- Appropriately identify and escalate any contract management issues or requirements to the Perth office as required.
- Track package progress, changes and associated documentation for reporting, compliance and assurance in accordance with business requirements.
- Oversee project contract execution ensuring adherence to, and deviation from, schedule, budget, quality requirement, environment, safety & corporate compliance regulations, the global procurement procedures and local regulatory standards as well as other internal process standards.
- Identify, manage and resolve contract disputes with reporting and escalation as required.
- Conduct regular reviews with the Procurement management team on progress to scope, schedule and budget, the heath of contractual relationships and risks of commercial claims and disputes.
- Manage internal stakeholder relationships both in the southwest region, Perth office and within the global organisation as required.
- Mentor and support junior members of the Procurement Team.
- Manage, review and endorse EPCm deliverables in accordance with Albemarle’s requirements, the EPCm contract and relevant execution plans.
- Perform project contract close out, including contract close out, participation in lessons learned activities, handover relevant contracts or works to the Operations/Maintenance team.
- Other activities as reasonably expected of a manager within Albemarle.
Work Experience / Technical Skill Requirements
- Significant experience within a complex project environment is essential.
- Significant stakeholder management and communication is essential.
- Experience working with a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment is essential.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse personnel.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering to the full contract management lifecycle on major capital projects.
- Continuous improvement and learning mindset.
- Knowledge of commercial contract law.
- Strong negotiation experience and skills.
- Strong experience in claims management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to swift decisions with sound judgement in order to support project activities within legal and business requirements.
- Highly adaptable and flexible.
Education / Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is desirable.
- More than 10 years of demonstrated experience on large capital projects, managing complex contracts is required.
