**About the role**
NHVR is looking for a Policy Advisor who will develop and enhance current national heavy vehicle access policies - the aim is to reduce obstacles for industry through road access consultation with applicable road managers. Working closely with the Principal Policy Advisor in the Network Access team, you will be provided with an approved work program that will see you liaise with jurisdictions and industry stakeholder groups to develop policies to achieve this. This entails coordinating with our legal team and consulting with internal and external stakeholders (including local governments) to deliver policies aligned with our strategic objectives.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Brisbane. Applications from other locations will be considered. Interstate travel may be required as part of this role. On offer is a flexible, supportive and inclusive work environment where the work you produce plays an important part in freight and supply logistics in Australia.
**About You**
Motivated to contribute to outcomes, you will be an out-of-the-box thinker, who thrives on solving complex technical matters through collaboration. You will have the ability to work independently and contribute effectively, in a supportive team environment whilst maintaining a high level of work ethic. The role has a lot of projects on the go at any one point in time, and requires high level problem-solving, creativity, perseverance, as well as solid planning, time management and prioritisation skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You will need to be able to build rapport and develop strong stakeholder relationships across multiple sources, take end-to-end responsibility for a body of work, and manage expectations and deliverables. You will need to leverage these relationships to seek the appropriate advice and information required to inform your decisions, as well as negotiate outcomes and overcome challenges.
