Enterprise Technology is a Division within Investment and Technology and provides IT services and technology for DoT delivering Corporate and Enterprise wide capabilities. It performs a central role providing core IT Risk and Assurance, Cyber leadership and documenting strategic directions for all DoT's Information technology and data.
About the Role
The Principal Solution Analyst is responsible for leading the development and delivery of solution proposals and recommendations based on business and functional requirements. The role leads the requirements elicitation, designing fit for purpose solutions based on business, functional, and non-functional requirements. The role has a strong emphasis on ensuring proposed solutions are holistic, scalable, cost effective, and complies with the department's Enterprise Architecture framework.
The role will work collaboratively with the groups planning and partnering specialists, solution architects and enterprise architecture team to ensure solution proposals and recommendations meet business needs. The Principal Solution Analyst will also contribute to shape business concepts at Ideation stage and assist in the preparation of high-level estimates and implementation roadmaps for solution proposals and business cases.
Key Accountabilities
- Delivery of key business case and solution proposal artefacts: Contributes to the development of key artefacts including (but not limited to): business cases, investment logic maps, solution options and proposals with a high degree of autonomy under the broader direction of the Manager - Strategic Solutions.
- Evaluating technology options: Leads and/or contributes towards evaluation of solution options ensuring suitability for the business needs, budget and compliance to Enterprise Architecture.
- Designing solutions: Collaborate with solution architects to provide the design of technology solutions that are cost-effective, reliable, and aligned with the department's Enterprise Architecture principles. Research, analyse, interpret, and report on a range of possible solutions in relation to complex business and technical issues. Factors such as performance, scalability, security, and compatibility with existing systems must be considered.
- Delivers fit for purpose solution proposals: Leads and/or contributes to solution proposals demonstrating deep understanding of business problem, business requirements. Solution proposal clearly articulates scope, budget required and implementation roadmap.
- Ensuring smooth transition to delivery teams: Perform thorough and detailed handovers to project teams when proposals are approved, ensure a smooth transition both from business and project team perspective. Continue to support project throughout the project lifecycle where required.
- Collaborating with broader team members: Develop, maintain, and foster effective networks and liaisons with technical teams and stakeholders to assist in delivering appropriate solutions.
- Maintain knowledge and extend department capabilities: Maintain knowledge of relevant Whole of Victorian Government and Federal Government ICT policies and standards where applicable. Build awareness in modern tools and technology, show-casing innovative ideas and socialising industry trends and best practices.
