**Role Details**

The SA Government has committed to reforming the child protection system in South Australia. The Department of Human Services (DHS) has lead responsibility for implementing the Child and Family Support System (CFSS) reform, in which Safer Family Services (SFS) plays a key part.

Safer Family Services (SFS) provides help and support to children and their families at risk of harm, neglect and family violence, by deliberately and strongly intervening to disrupt the patterns of intergenerational trauma, and increase the number of children able to be cared for safely in their homes, connected to culture and community. This is particularly relevant for children and families with multiple and complex needs.

The Regional Manager is a senior leadership role within the SFS Directorate and is accountable to the General Manager, Intensive Family Services for:

- Providing leadership, professional supervision, strategic direction and support to Supervisors/Team Leader and ensuring high quality and accountable services are delivered in the context of identified priorities.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of an evidence informed service to children, young people, families and staff.
- Providing social work knowledge and expertise to the development of policy and programs within Safer Family Services and the broader organisation.
- Planning and providing interventions which are proactive in relation to working with children, young people and families where child protection concerns are present.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Provide a high level of clinical knowledge, expertise and advice related to working with children and families with child protection concerns in the development of policy and programs within Safer Family Services and DHS.
2. Lead service improvement including the development, implementation, monitoring and review of professional practice standards and service models across SFS.
3. Provide leadership in discipline-specific and multi-professional research, service development, innovative practices and initiatives, through research data analysis, evaluation of services and development of recommendations to assist management decision making.
4. Provide system level professional leadership and strategic direction in the management and delivery of services consistent with the directions and priorities determined as a member of the SFS leadership group.
5. Accountable for the effective management and allocation of finances for SFS in an allocated region, including workforce planning and development.
6. Manage and provide expert advice on the management of cases of exceptional risk and or complexity to SFS and the DHS. Key outcomes and accountabilities:

- Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
- Incumbent must be vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Therapeutic Goods Administration Authority (TGA) approved vaccine and provide proof of vaccination status prior to being appointed to the role. You must promptly receive any further COVID-19 vaccination(s) or booster vaccination(s) approved by the TGA and which are available to you to access.

**Essential Qualifications**: An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Community and Family Services supports vulnerable people and families to participate in social and economic life and build stronger communities. This division comprises three key areas:
**Safer Family Services (SFS) **provides a wide range of intensive family support services to children, young people and families experiencing a high risk of statutory intervention from the child protection or youth justice systems. Services also include family support, community development and parenting and youth programs.

The **Office for Women **works across government and the community towards achieving gender equity and positive change for women in South Australia by developing policy and advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety, wellbeing and economic security.
