**The Role**
As a research professional within the Directorate of People Intelligence and Research team, you will have the opportunity to pursue your interests in research with the purpose of delivering evidence that positively influences outcomes for the Defence workforce. We are looking for experienced researchers to join our multidisciplinary team, with a capacity to generate knowledge insights that empowers Defence to grow its workforce, support a better workplace environment, and understand social and community influences on Defence.

**About our Team**
The Directorate of People Intelligence and Research is a dedicated multidisciplinary research team, responsible for the delivery of a comprehensive Defence workforce research portfolio.Our team facilitates all aspects enterprise people and workplace research from foundation to knowledge translation. This includes governing aspects of research ethics and integrity (eg, through the Defence People Research - Low Risk Ethics panel), developing and delivering a program of surveys and censuses, and engaging in various scientific approaches to investigate organisational/people issues.

The expertise derived from our people and program are widely applied by decision-makers and leaders, to monitor and analyse workforce strategies and develop more successful interventions. It is also integral for representing Defence’s formal accountabilities on workforce issues to the government, public and participating in international intelligence exchange. Our current program of research explores workplace experiences and behaviour; culture and organisational development; workforce demography; workforce demand, design and incentives; and social policy related to the intersections of work and Defence families, well-being and gender, to inform future workforce strategies.

To thrive in this opportunity you will have:

- Highly developed applied research skills and experience, including methodological, analytical or other technical experience that contribute to designing and delivering high quality applied social-science research projects
- Well-honed communication and engagement skills that support you in collaborating with key stakeholders throughout projects, and deliver knowledge that influences change
- Excellent organisational skills that allow you to work with a degree of independence to manage competing priorities and strategic directions and achieve task (or team) objectives

You will also demonstrate a background in one or more of the following:

- Human and behavioural science (eg sociology, psychology, economics, demography, organisational behaviour, or data sciences).
- Expertise/skills in research methods and delivery (ie measurement/psychometrics, statistics, data sciences, research governance and ethics, research platform technology including collection and data management tools, or research communication and knowledge mobilisation).
- Extensive experience delivering applied and foundational social research in government and other settings.
