**About the Oil & Gas division**:
The Oil and Gas Division is an integral part of the ongoing energy transition - in Australia, Asia and globally. The teams work on a wide variety of onshore and offshore resources issues including policy and regulatory functions, developing and interpreting legislation, and program delivery.

The Gas Branch advises Government on gas supply policy in the context of the Government’s long‑term goals of energy transition. The Branch was also responsible for developing and releasing the Future Gas Strategy, which outlines a pathway for Australia to manage its evolving role as a trusted producer and as a responsible climate actor which acts with transparency, integrity, and from a strong evidence base. We are currently looking to fill on-going APS 4 and APS 5 positions in the branch.
**The opportunity**:
The energy transformation is a complex process. Managing the complexity of the future of gas requires continued collaboration, close monitoring, regular review, and adjustment of actions. You will have the opportunity to directly shape future decisions about the energy transition and supporting Australia’s net zero goals.
You will be contributing to facilitating a well-functioning domestic wholesale gas market with adequate gas supply at reasonable prices and on reasonable terms for both suppliers and buyers.
Adhering to the Work Level Standards for an **APS Level 4 **employee, you will:
- be able to undertake work that is moderately complex in nature under general direction and produce sound verbal and written advice for decision-makers,
- demonstrate initiative and accountability for their work,
- be able to communicate confidently and clearly, and
- liaise with and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholder.
Adhering to the Work Level Standards for an **APS Level 5 **employee, you will:
- be able to undertake work that is very complex or sensitive and operate under broad direction,
- exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role, which may include providing direction to others, contributing to team planning, and supervising or mentoring staff,
- demonstrate sound decision-making and judgement to provide advice and deliver results that contribute to strategic priorities,
- need to communicate clearly, persuasively, and convey information in a way that is tailored to the audience, and
- be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders.
**What you will do**:
Working in the Oil and Gas Division, Gas Branch, as an APS Level 5 Officer you will:
- Support the development of reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence, and discussion papers for review by executive level employees under broad direction.
- Provide accurate, high-quality advice on complex gas policy matters for the Minister or Senior Executive that communicates clearly, persuasively and conveys information in a way that is tailored to the audience.
- Contribute to analysis and research on issues in Australia’s gas market and regulatory environment.
- Support and contribute to section decision-making and achieving strategic objectives.
- Be responsible for building maintaining positive relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders with interests in gas policy, including other Commonwealth agencies, state governments and the private sector.
