**The Opportunity**
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Safety & Development Advisor to join our team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our workforce. Reporting into the HR Manager, with a strong line to the Operations Manager, this exciting newly created role is an excellent opportunity to be at the forefront of our Safety culture.
As our new Safety and Development Advisor, you will be pivotal in fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the Project Green Group. This role will oversee safety culture, manage the incidents register and ensure staff development aligns with operational excellence.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Safety Culture and Compliance**:
- Drive the development and maintenance of a strong safety culture across operations.
- Manage the incidents register, including reporting and follow-up actions.
- Conduct regular site audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices.
- Participate in the third-party annual audit to maintain QSE standards.
- Take a lead role in all safety meetings including toolbox meetings.
**Staff Development**:
- Support the Operations Manager in assessing the competency and performance of field staff.
- Implement and participate in development training programs.
- Develop and deliver training on machinery operations and other relevant areas.
- Monitor and verify staff competency through regular assessments.
**Operational Support**:
- Collaborate with the Operations Manager to address operational concerns and improve practices.
- Ensure that all safety protocols and training are up-to-date and effectively communicated.
- Provide on-site support and guidance to enhance operational performance.
- Work closely with our QSE administrator to drive our Safety processes.
**Incident Management**:
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and recommend / train areas of improvements.
- Work with staff to address and resolve safety concerns and challenges.
- Track and report on incident trends and provide recommendations for mitigation.
- Effectively and sensitively manage workplace injuries and return to work processes.
Your ability to engage and motivate teams, fostering a strong safety and learning culture, together with building excellent working relationships will see you succeed in this role, as will your strong communication and organisational skills.
**Qualifications, Skills & Experience**:
- Proven experience in a similar role ideally within high-risk environments such as the Arboriculture, Construction or Environmental industry.
- Formal qualifications in WHS, HR, or related fields is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of compliance and third-party accreditation processes.
- Experience in training and development within the safety space.
- Sound knowledge of operational safety processes & protocols.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Previous experience in conducting site audits and competency assessments.
