**About the Business**
Our Disability Division provides valuable support to the South Australian community through direct service delivery, inclusion policy and sector reform work. As a registered NDIS provider, they supervise and help with everyday tasks to support people living with disability to live as independently as possible. The division also encompasses quality and clinical services and the DHS Equipment Program.
**Role Details**
The Safety, Wellbeing & Injury Management Advisor is a role within Disability Services and is accountable to the Area Manager, Operations for:
- Providing advice and support across a range of safety, wellbeing and injury management areas including planning and development; workplace assessment and inspection; risk management incident and injury prevention; education and awareness; employee support and wellbeing and performance reporting; and working closely with Career Support, managers and injured staff to support rehabilitation and return to work activities.
- Maintaining a compliant and effective Wellbeing & Safety Risk Register as the Division’s nominated Risk Assessment Facilitator (RAF)
- Contributing to the establishment of Wellbeing & Safety and Injury Management key performance indicators and effective implementation of the Department’s Wellbeing & Safety and Injury Management Strategy in Disability Services.
- Participate in internal and external audit and contribute to the implementation of identified corrective actions.
Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1.Operate as a conduit between the business unit and People and Performance directorate to ensure a holistic approach to managing risks, hazards and incidents and workers compensation claims and business needs are considered and met.
2. Develop and maintain connection to other Health and Safety Representatives across the Department by playing an active role in employee and workplace safety.
3. Provide advice to management, in line with the Department’s Safety Management System and associated legislation, on all matters pertaining to the prevention of accidents, a wide range of hazard identification and control, promotion of health and safety, and risk issues as they relate to clients, staff and contractors, and prepare submissions, reports, executive briefs and other correspondence as required.
4. Monitor, review, analyse and report on incident and injury data, from a range of sources, to identify new or emerging issues, risks or trends and recommend strategies for improvement, including preventative measures.
5. Contribute to the development of HSW education and awareness for service delivery staff, supervisors and managers across the department and work with management on delivery strategies with the view to building a sustainable safety culture.
6. Promote psychologically and physically safe workplaces and practices with a focus on employee wellbeing and education.
7. Respond and engage with teams and employees during incidents and critical events providing wellbeing education, debriefing and connection to services such as the Employee Assistance Program.
8. Contribute to the evaluation of services and initiatives to ensure services provided are value-adding and achieving business goals.

Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation is desirable.
