**Role Details**

The SA Government has committed to reforming the child protection system in South Australia. The Department of Human Services has lead responsibility for implementing the Child and Family Support System (CFSS), reform in which Safer Family Services (SFS) plays a key part.

Safer Family Services (SFS) provides help and support to children and their families at risk of harm, neglect and family violence, by deliberately and strongly intervening to disrupt the patterns of intergenerational trauma, and increase the number of children able to be cared for safely in their homes, connected to culture and community. This is particularly relevant for children and families with multiple and complex needs.

The Training Officer is a role within Families Growing Together and is accountable to the Manager, Community Capacity Building for:

- delivering parenting training to parents/caregivers and coordinating and providing a range of associated program operational and evaluation functions
- working collaboratively with the Senior Project Officers and other key DHS staff to provide public relations activities, briefings, and reports that support stakeholder engagement and inform the design and delivery of parenting training and parenting support.

Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Deliver parenting training, workshops and sessions to parents/caregivers in community and education settings and support the work of local stakeholders as required.
2. Coordinate and provide a range of parenting and family support operational functions including ensuring the appropriate set up and technology for training sessions to ensure their successful delivery.
3. Working collaboratively with the Senior Project Officers and Manager to deliver effective stakeholder engagement, program promotion activities and relevant referral pathways.
4. Prepare, coordinate and/or contribute to the development of workshops, communications, media campaigns, community events and reports, including those of a complex or sensitive nature and provide effective records and information management, as required.
5. Undertake parenting program evaluation functions including data and feedback analysis to determine program efficacy, inform and provide expert guidance on the future design and delivery of parenting training and sessions.
6. Establish, maintain and monitor data bases to assist in the administration management of projects and programs, as required.
8. Contribute to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by taking personal accountability by identifying and reporting incidents, hazards and injuries in accordance with DHS policy and procedure and cooperating and complying with reasonable instructions of DHS line management and WHS Officers.

Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

- Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
- Covid -19 - will be required to be up to date on their COVID-19 vaccination status prior to engagement with DHS, unless it would be medically unsafe for the employee to do so.
- Multiple roles of various term end dates and including full-time and part-time available.

**Safer Family Services (SFS) **provides a wide range of intensive family support services to children, young people and families experiencing a high risk of statutory intervention from the child protection or youth justice systems. Services also include family support, community development and parenting and youth programs.

The **Office for Women **works across government and the community towards achieving gender equity and positive change for women in South Australia by developing policy and advising on issues affecting women to improve their safety, wellbeing and economic security.
