**Division Responsibilities**

The Information Technology Division (ITD) is responsible for enhancing health services

through technology, innovation and the delivery of sustainable ICT Services to Health to

enable better health outcomes for all Australians.

**Branch Responsibilities**

The Chief Technology Officer Branch is committed to fulfilling Health’s business needs and

values by driving continuous improvement, leaning in on the operations of Health’s ICT

services, and through the proactive management of security.

**Section Responsibilities**

The Protective Security Section (PSS), led by the Agency Security Adviser, is responsible for

providing assurance to the Chief Security Officer that security risks are managed effectively

and security arrangements align with the requirements of the Australian Government

Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). The PSS is also responsible for providing high

quality business as usual protective security services and advice to Health, other Portfolio

Agencies and Statutory Office Holders. The key functions of the Security Section include:

- Supporting the Chief Security Officer by encouraging a collaborative approach to

enable governance, information, personnel and physical security measures that are

complementary, promote robust security practices and achieve the entity's security

objectives
- Providing assurance to the Chief Security Officer that security risks are managed

effectively
- Ensuring the Departments security arrangements align with the requirements of

the Commonwealth’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
- Management of Health’s physical security infrastructure (CCTV, alarms and

electronic access control)
- Providing administrative support to the Security and Workforce Integrity and

Assurance Committee
- Providing security advice and support to business groups, staff, contractors and

portfolio entities
- Undertaking security related projects and/or business improvement initiatives
- Conducting security threat, vulnerability and risk assessments
- Delivering Health’s security culture program, including conducting security

awareness training, maintain mandatory online training content and briefing staff

and contractors to increase organisational security awareness and capability
- Maintaining security incident reporting processes, responding to incidents and

conducting, facilitating or assisting with investigations
- Managing adherence to and performance of Health’s Security Policy Framework
- Managing the performance of contracted security services providers including

security guarding and personnel
- Undertaking assurance activities to support Protective Security Policy Framework

(PSPF) maturity assessments and security performance reporting***

**Key Responsibilities**

Responsibilities of the role include:

- Supporting the section to provide risk-based policy advice in relation to complex

physical security issues that aligns with the Protective Security Policy Framework.
- Assisting in the management of electronic security systems, faults rectifications and

security guard performance.
- Providing physical security services to enable business areas to conduct their work

securely.
- Developing internal operating guidelines and procedures and maintaining accurate

databases and registers to support the efficient and effective capture, analysis and

reporting of security incidents, actions, and performance information.
- Providing support during physical security inspections and provide advice on the

development of physical security zones.
- Conduct and report results of access control audits for restricted areas.
- Monitor security system performance including reporting and analysis.
