Co-founded in 2014 by Philanthropy and Fundraising leaders Patricia Burke OAM and Gillian Hund OAM, Melbourne Women’s Fund (MWF) is a Giving Circle and sub-fund of Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. As a voluntary association with a philanthropic purpose, Melbourne Women’s Fund brings together members’ financial, intellectual, professional and personal resources to support non-profit organisations in Melbourne that deal with issues undermining the quality of life and futures of women and their families.

Their vision is clear_A future where vulnerable women and families in Melbourne thrive. _

Underpinned by a strong set of values and a community of passionate, like-minded people, Melbourne Women’s Fund has achieved incredible outcomes including over $980,000 in grants awarded to 43 organisations collectively working in high priority areas. This is a group of people who are committed to ‘rolling up their sleeves’ to work hard on behalf of the communities they represent.

Melbourne Women’s Fund is entering a new chapter by seeking registration as a charity with DGR status, and a change of name to Melbourne Women’s Foundation Ltd. This new status will open a wealth of opportunities including the opportunity for this new leadership role, which was previously a volunteer position. This will be a pivotal and exciting time to welcome a passionate and motivational Executive Officer on a part time (0.6 FTE) salaried basis. In this important position, you will:
Lead, develop and empower a diverse membership of volunteers; and guide the organisation through the next phase of growth
- Continue to build upon existing/identify new stakeholder relationships
- Collaborate with the leadership team and broader membership base on projects
- Additionally, your depth and breadth of experience in the Australian philanthropic landscape will be key in understanding opportunities for growth and ensuring the continued success of Melbourne Women’s Fund

About YOU
- Experience in the philanthropic sector, ideally with knowledge of giving circles, grant-seeking and grant-making
- Strong marketing, social media and compelling storytelling
- Project and events management
- Understanding of governance and compliance, plus strong financial and commercial acumen
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- if you are a collaborative, inclusive and hands-on leader with energy, integrity, creativity and relevant philanthropy experience, together with alignment to Melbourne Women’s Fund’s mission, vision and values.
