As a **Technical Officer**, you will be based in **Clayton, Victoria**, and report to the Technical Support Supervisor. You will provide technical expertise to manufacturing and sales in support of existing products and to use this expertise to help develop and introduce new products. **Responsibilities** - Develop, formulate and test new products. - Under guidance and supervision, maintain and improve existing products. - Provide technical advice to sales, marketing and customers. - Produce sales aids. - Conduct product demonstrations to customers. - Plan and conduct field trials. - Evaluate competitive products. - Conduct testing and verification of alternate sources of raw materials and issuing of specifications. - Reduce formula process times. - Achieve product quality at minimum cost. **Requirements**: - Minimum 2 to 4 years of experience in the surface coatings industry gained in product development and technical service. - Minimum qualification - Bachelor of Science or equivalent with a chemistry major (Scientific knowledge gained on the job (12 years) can replace a formal qualification). - Good understanding of paint technology. - Good knowledge of the manufacturing process. - Good understanding of the market and customer base. - Practical knowledge of OPM systems **About us**: **PPG: WE PROTECT AND BEAUTIFY THE WORLD** **The PPG Way** Every day at PPG: **We partner with customers to create mutual value.** We are insightful, dedicated, and proactive.
