The Defence Estate consists of approximately 700 owned and leased properties. It is comprised of 25,000 buildings and 6,000 other structural assets, as well as 150,000 items of fixed plant and equipment.
As an Estate Management and Planning team member, you will build strong relationships with Defence personnel and industry partners with a shared focus on undertaking projects to support the maintenance and sustainment of these facilities and assets. Projects vary dependent on the site of works, but projects could relate to weapon ranges, airfields, wharves, laboratories, heritage buildings, environmental works, building refurbishments, civil works and more.
Your role is not purely project related, and you will have the opportunity to influence Defence strategic planning, program and policy development.
It's an exciting role and environment where no two days are the same, but on a typical day as an Estate Management and Planning team member, you will:
- Engage with Defence stakeholders and assist with their estate works enquires.
- Work closely with industry partners focusing on Defence projects and estate outcomes.
- Ensure handover-takeover requirements of projects are completed and compliant with relevant standards.
- Participate in project meetings providing input into scope, design and implementation.
- Provide estate planning and development advice regarding project and maintenance works.
- Contribute to strategic planning, program and project management of the estate.

**About our Team**
The East & West Zone (EWZ) is a branch of the Service Delivery Division within the Department of Defence Security and Estate Group.
EWZ provides essential, on-the-ground services and support to Defence personnel at locations across New South Wales (excluding the Riverina), Western Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. The EWZ Estate Management & Planning Team is responsible for effectively planning, managing and maintaining the Defence estate.
This work is a critical business enabler of Defence capabilities, the long-term sustainability of the estate and ensuring compliance with Defence's legislative requirements. You will be part of a proactive and dynamic team that is trusted and proven, contributing to a positive service delivery culture.
