**The Role**
Your duties as an APS 6 Data Officer in the Estate Data Management team would include:
- Supervision of a high performing data management team, ensuring effective prioritisation and coordination of workloads.
- Oversight of the creation and maintenance of compliant Estate data for Services and Asset Management throughout the Estate Lifecycle.
- Maintaining a high level of stakeholder engagement in relation to complex data and information needs.
- Improving reporting outcomes through innovative thinking and implementing best practice business intelligence concepts.
- Identifying connections between systems and data (mainly structured data sets) and working on new ways to simplify, automate and standardise key processes.
- Assessing, evaluating and supporting information management strategy, initiatives, projects, policy and procedures, and engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.
**About our Team**
Security and Estate Group (SEG) is responsible for providing infrastructure and associated support services to in excess of 90,000 ADF and civilian staff. Service Delivery Division provides essential, on-the-ground services and support to Defence personnel around Australia.
The Directorate of Estate Information Systems Governance (DEISG) within Base Service Transformation and Estate Data Systems Branch is accountable for the implementation and management of SEG information frameworks in Defence. DEISG’s data management team maintains estate data to ensure it is accurate and consistent.
We:
- Create and maintain estate data,
- Establish and maintain estate data governance,
- Validate technical data compliance with estate data systems,
- Deliver estate data supply services,
- Identify and communicate estate data quality issues,
- Provide guidance on estate data management and modelling, and
- Engage with business areas to facilitate estate information management.
A background in data analysis with teamwork and strong communication skills is essential. Your experiences have given you the ability to translate data and strategy into business outcomes to create a shared sense of purpose. You’ll be curious, exercise good judgement, think critically, demonstrate initiative and have a focus on continuous improvement. You’ll also actively seek out collaboration opportunities with others and value diversity. You are committed to learning, experimentation and enjoy using technology to enable smarter, more efficient ways of working.

You’ll be able to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes. In addition, you’ll have team management experience, or be ready to step into a leadership role.
