The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Manager, Programs and Implementation to provide a critical role within the Koori Justice Unit.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
About us
The Koori Justice Unit (KJU) is a unit within the Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), which has been established to help realise a clear vision of a fair and accessible justice system for Aboriginal people.
The KJU is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja - currently in its fourth phase (AJA4), in partnership with the Aboriginal community and Victorian government, in line with realising Aboriginal self-determination.
The AJA has established extensive Government and Community networks through the Aboriginal Justice Forum (AJF), Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee Network (RAJAC) and the Local Aboriginal Justice Action Committees (LAJAC) and uses them to effectively deliver initiatives including early intervention and prevention programs, diversion initiatives, and rehabilitation and reintegration support.
About the role
**Some of your duties will include**:
- Lead and oversee the project management, implementation and monitoring of key AJA programs, projects and initiatives to meet AJA outcomes.
- Provide high level strategic advice to the Director and management team across the Koori Justice Unit to inform strategic planning and decision-making process
- Promote the role of data and evidence to inform accountability, service design and continuous improvement.
- Lead capacity building of Aboriginal organisations delivering justice programs to facilitate a move towards outcomes focussed management and reporting.
- Promote program development, implementation, and operation of the AJA, through the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee Networks, project working groups, and through the development of strategic initiatives.
- Support the KJU to lead the development of AJA5, including project planning, supporting governance groups, facilitating workshops, and supporting Ministers and the Aboriginal Justice Caucus' engagement in this process.
About you
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:
- Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and understanding of historical and contemporary issues relating to Aboriginal Victorians.
- Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience, working with Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, including sophisticated and culturally aware stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to identify, develop and implement new policies, programs and initiatives.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

- COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)
Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
