The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Program Implementation Lead to provide a critical role within Koori Justice Unit.
This is a prioritised role for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples, who will be given priority consideration as per the special measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010.

About us
The Koori Justice Unit (KJU) is a unit within the Aboriginal Justice Group of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS), which has been established to help realise a clear vision of a fair and accessible justice system for Aboriginal people.
The KJU is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja - currently in its fourth phase (AJA4), in partnership with the Aboriginal community and Victorian government, in line with realising Aboriginal self-determination.
About the role
As the Program Implementation Lead you will provide strategic leadership to the development and implementation of self-determining, community led programs and key initiatives arising from the AJA. This role will manage a small team and has responsibility to facilitate and build effective working relationships between a range of senior government and community stakeholders to secure the timely delivery of identified priorities and strategic initiatives. Demonstrated project delivery, stakeholder management and communication skills will be essential to success in this role.
As the Program Implementation Lead, some of your duties will include:

- Lead and manage a small team, including staff performance and development planning (PDP) and building knowledge and capability work collaboratively with Aboriginal organisations and communities and ensure the team's activities align with the broader work of the KJU and the AJA.
- Support capacity building of Aboriginal organisations delivering justice programs to facilitate a move towards outcomes focussed management and reporting.
- Collaborate across other business units, where crossover of work activities has been identified.

About you

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society and understanding of historical and contemporary issues relating to Aboriginal Victorians.
- Strong knowledge of, and demonstrated experience, working with Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, including sophisticated and culturally aware stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to identify, develop and implement new policies, programs and initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing processes and evaluations in operational contexts.
