What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader - National Coordination and Support

The Specialist Protective Command (SPC), National Coordination and Support Team supports SPC by working with the AFP regional commands and broader SPC to ensure key stakeholders within the AFP maintain a shared level of situational awareness of threats, significant activity and AFP operational responses related to the protection of Commonwealth Interests (including High Office Holders, Internationally Protected Persons, and Protected Commonwealth Infrastructure). They also provide leadership and management of a team in the day-to-day delivery of high quality corporate enabling services including, strategy and policy coordination, governance and assurance services, and business support.

You will communicate effectively and with influence with a range of stakeholders, working collaboratively with regional Command Corporate Service Unit (CCSU) Leaders, Command Executive and corporate business areas to solve complex corporate issues through the provision of consistent high quality command support.

As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement.

What will you do?

To be effective as a SPC Team Leader, you will undertake complex work under limited direction, while leading your team to deliver high quality outputs and contributing to the outcomes of SPC.

**Primary responsibilities of the role include**:
Manage the outputs of a small team, responsible for delivering National Coordination and Support for SPC;
Developing new processes to better support the SPC Command and executive;
Prepare reporting from a National and Command perspective for the SPC Executive;
Working collaboratively with Team Leader counterparts across SPC, the regional command and operational and support business areas;
Ensuring both individual growth and succession planning through development capability within the team;
Lead a team to develop Command-specific strategies to address compliance issue and undertake compliance reporting on all command initiatives;
Lead a team in the management of reporting and secretariat responsibilities;
Supporting the command during Senate Estimates, including providing guidance on data restrictions, budget information and proposed Command initiatives;
Provision of insightful, persuasive and trusted advice to a diverse range of senior stakeholders and frontline clients; and
Effectively building and maintaining capability within the team, while managing the day-to-day performance of team members.
Essential requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Resilience and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and compressed deadlines
Formal qualifications and / or professional experience in strategy and policy coordination, governance and assurance services, and business support
