**Position Information**:
Miller Technology High School is a comprehensive high school located in Sydney South West and has an enrolment of approximately 770 students. With 85% of students from Language Backgrounds Other than English (LBOTE), and 9% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students the school has an English Language Proficiency loading of 6.0 FTE teachers.
A well-established Intensive English Centre located onsite provides English instruction and cultural orientation for new arrivals, refugees and international students. A Support Faculty provides high quality educational experiences for students with special learning needs.
The school has a low socio-economic status with a strong focus on quality teaching, literacy, numeracy, engagement and connected learning. Our students have access to a broad curriculum with our Positive Behaviour for Learning core values of Respect, Inspire, Safe and Excel supporting an inclusive learning environment to aspire students to be the best they can possibly be. This position has the responsibility for LOTE curriculum delivery in Stage 4.
**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Approval to teach English as a Second Language within a high school context.
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement, lead and manage EAL/D processes and procedures within a high school context.
High level interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with the executive team and the school community to implement, lead and support whole school programs and practices.
Demonstrated capacity as part of a team to establish and maintain processes to guide, assist, and advise staff, across all KLAs, on the specific needs of EAL/D students.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the educational and welfare needs of students form a non-English speaking background and from a low socio-economic status, particularly newly arrived and refugee students.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
