The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking an Offender Services Supervisor to provide a critical role at Melbourne Assessment Prison.

About the business unit
The Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) is a maximum-security facility providing state-wide assessment and orientation services for all male prisoners received into the prison system and is located within the North West Metropolitan Area, Department of Justice. MAP consists of the prison, the custody facilities at the County, Supreme and Appeal Courts and holding cells at St Vincent's Hospital for prisoners requiring outpatient medical treatment.
The Offender Services Supervisor is a key role within the Offender Services team at the Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP). This team, led by the Offender Services Manager, is responsible for health and prisoner support services together with the development and delivery of a range of personal development programs. The unit comprises offender services and recreation staff.

About the role
The Offender Services Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating the range of programs delivered by members of the Offender Services team as well as overseeing and coordinating activities delivered by a variety of external contractors and community providers.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- In conjunction with the Offender Services Manager, manage the development, implementation and evaluation of offender programs according to current correctional philosophies, legislative requirements, prison policies and correctional standards.
- Manage a team of program delivery staff, program sessional and contractors ensuring efficient and effective delivery of programs and services which includes the provision of training, advice and support ensuring that staff undertake initial orientation training and ongoing security awareness training.
- Develop and implement quality control responsibilities for programs, including surveys, internal audits and various assessment strategies.

This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.
