**About Us**:
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.

**About the Role**:
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Working within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to the holistic management of prisoners at the MRC, including supporting community transition, monitoring, and encouraging program involvement and contributing to community referral for post release issues.
- Under direction, providing individual assessments and referrals which are responsive to individual prisoner needs.
- Under direction, facilitating group prisoner orientation sessions and information sessions.

**About You**:
**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience in or understanding of working within a Correctional environment

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Community Safety.
At the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), each Justice Officer role specialises in one of five streams Records/Property, Human Resources, Stores/Canteen, Infrastructure/Technology/Finance and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.
