**The Role**
Reporting to the Director, Property Operations, the Assistant Director, Leasing plays a key role within the Property Operations team by overseeing the department’s leasing portfolio and supporting the strategic management of government leased properties.

This position is responsible for managing lease agreements, lease critical dates and compliance requirements, while also contributing to broader property initiatives and operational priorities

**Skills and Capabilities**
We are seeking an individual with the following skills and capabilities:

- Sound working knowledge of the Commonwealth Property Management Framework (RMG500)
- Strong knowledge of the Commonwealth National Lease
- Experience leading and managing a small team
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Understanding of leasing-related legislative, statutory, and policy frameworks
- Sound lease negotiation skills
- Experience working with a legal team to give direction based on advice
- Demonstrated understanding of various elements of Commonwealth property management to enable lease negotiations
- A strong work ethic, with good time management skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise with staff at all levels
- Good judgement and resilience
- Ability to problem solve and trouble-shoot, and/or escalate issues as appropriate

The role is essential in the efficient and effective management of DEWR’s large, geographically dispersed property portfolio and includes but is not limited to:

- Effectively managing a small team and adapting to shifting priorities within a dynamic, operational environment.
- Manage complex leasing arrangements, including negotiating and administering new leases, renewals, MOUs, and licensing agreements.
- Monitoring and managing critical lease dates and milestones to ensure compliance and service continuity.
- Assess market data and make sound recommendations that align with value-for-money principles and operational needs.
- Prepare clear, concise, and well-structured briefing materials, reports, and documentation for internal governance and executive decision-making.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to broader property-related services and support departmental priorities as required.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 12 months.
