The Business Improvement & Optimisation (BIO) Function is recruiting for the role of a Business Improvement & Optimisation Practitioner to support the various Sustainment Operation Programs at the Royal Australian Air Force Base in Amberley, QLD.
**In this role you will be responsible for the following**:
- Identifying, leading and facilitating efficiency improvements in the military aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and back shops environment utilizing established Lean and Six Sigma principles, processes and tools.
- Delivery of training, coaching and mentoring on the Continuous Improvement Framework and CI processes and tools (incl. Lean, Six Sigma, Structured Problem Solving, Root Cause Analysis).
- Championing a positive continuous improvement culture and drive towards proactive realization of improvement opportunities.
About you
You are passionate about Lean, continuous improvement and operational excellence and have experience in implementing improvements using Lean and/or Six Sigma. You understand what is required to execute and deliver successful improvement projects. You possess a high level of communication, negotiation and influencing skills to facilitate open and inclusive collaboration between key internal and external stakeholders. You value diversity and have unquestionable integrity and are passionate about sharing your expertise to provide coaching to empower others to learn and deliver continuous improvement in alignment with the businesses' strategy. You are a system-level thinker who is comfortable working both autonomously, and participating collaboratively across teams. You are someone who enjoys establishing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and you are willing to work with teams to review and drive continuous improvement and innovation.

Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum of 6-7 years' experience in implementing improvements using Lean and/or Six Sigma.
- Lean or Six Sigma qualifications are desirable.
- Experience working within the Defence or Aerospace industry is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Proven ability to effectively facilitate improvement workshops and activities.
- Experience in delivering training courses on CI processes and tools.
- Ability to effectively communicate and network across all levels of our business.
- Ability to problem solve, provide critical thinking and adapt easily to fast changing situations.
- Demonstrated experience having worked and provided business improvement capability in dynamic and complex operational environments.
- Applicants must be an Australian Citizen and hold, or have the ability to obtain, an Australian Defence security clearance.
