As a Protective and Technical Security Advisor, you will work alongside technical experts from the Australian Government and international partners who share your passion for technical and protective security. You will be at the forefront of protective security principles and technical security technology, and will play an active role to harden the Australian Government against acts of technical espionage.
A merit pool may be created to fill future vacancies which have the same or similar requirements to this position. This merit pool will be valid for up to 18 months.

Certification Officer (SIEE2)_**
**Role responsibilities**
As a certification officer you will:
- Ensure that Australian TOP SECRET facilities meet the appropriate protective and technical security standards.
- Undertake regular travel.
- Conduct technical inspections under instruction from a Senior Technical Officer (training provided).
- Undertake protective security interviews under instruction from a Senior Technical Officer (training provided).
- Evaluate technical reports for compliance.
- Write post inspection reports.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships within your team and with external stakeholders.
**What you will bring**
- An interest in protective security and an aptitude to understand technical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to meet record keeping standards.
- The ability to adapt to change and accommodate shifting priorities.
- A willingness to travel and learn new skills.
Experience or qualifications in any of the following areas are highly desirable:
- Protective security evaluations and assessments.
- Technical security evaluations and assessments.
- Certificate IV in Government Security.
- Trade qualification or technical experience related to electronics or security systems.
- Understanding of building construction methods, or building management systems.

Senior Officer (SIEE3)_**
**Role responsibilities**
As a T4 Senior Officer you will:
- Ensure that Australia's most sensitive facilities meet the appropriate protective and technical security standards.
- Undertake regular travel.
- Lead and mentor junior staff in the certification of TOP SECRET facilities.
- Undertake protective security risk reviews and vulnerability assessments of sensitive facilities.
- Provide expert protective and construction security advice to stakeholders.
- Negotiate holistic protective security solutions in complex situations.
- Educate stakeholders on the purpose and importance of protective and technical security measures in the context of the current threat environment.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships within your team and with external stakeholders.
**What you will bring**
- Experience working in protective security.
- Understanding of construction security.
- Demonstrated ability to understand technical information as it applies to protective security.
- The ability to develop a holistic security outcome, even if preferred individual security controls cannot be implemented.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to lead a small team and mentor junior officers.
- A willingness to travel and learn new skills.
- The ability to adapt to change and accommodate shifting priorities.
Experience or qualifications in any of the following areas are highly desirable:
