What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Physical Security Advisor within the AFP’s Security Command. Physical Security Advisors are responsible for developing and delivering capabilities and projects associated with the security of the AFP, including implementation and management of strategic and operational security outcomes in accordance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and Information Security Manual (ISM).
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
Physical Security Advisors will be required to provide advice on, and develop standards associated with Security Zones and technical controls that mitigate security risk. You will also be required to manage infrastructure projects and security system, including CCTV and analytic technologies, high security alarm and other security control systems. The successful applicant will have an engaging and energetic attitude to work and be keen to bring innovation to the team. We are looking for applicants with the following skills and experience:
Contract management expertise including the ability to engage, manage and support third party organisations providing services to the AFP
Strong policy and legal competence to monitor and understand changes to legislation and to author policies and procedures used by the AFP and its suppliers
An understanding of risk management frameworks and assessment methodologies
Demonstrated experience in design, implementation and management of physical security controls and system in accordance with PSPF and ISM requirements
Experience in developing security documentation in-line with accreditation frameworks of Australian Government agencies; including site security plans, zone certification, standard operating procedures and security risk management plans
Experience in performing security assessments and gap analysis activities on systems and solutions
Experience conducting assurance reviews and identifying non -compliance with standards
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills; High attention to detail and well developed organisational skills
Strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal, liaison and communication skills
Essential Requirements
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Expertise in high security systems and products.
Contemporary knowledge and experience in design, implementation and management of security zones, physical security controls and systems.
Relevant qualification or extensive experience and knowledge in management and delivery of projects.
Desirable Requirements

Tertiary qualifications in relevant field.
