**Details**:Jervis Bay School is seeking proactive and caring Learning Support Assistants to help nurture student wellbeing and learning in our close-knit school community.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers to support students with additional needs - providing practical and emotional assistance, helping in classrooms and work contributing to a safe, inclusive learning environment.

About our school

Located within the Booderee National Park, Jervis Bay School offers a three-year-old Koori preschool program, a four-year-old preschool program and classes from Kindergarten to Year six. With around 100 students, we are a small, inclusive school with strong ties to Country, culture and community. We proudly serve Wreck Bay, Jervis Bay Territory and the broader Jervis Bay region, taking a holistic approach to education supports every child’s academic, social and emotional growth.

Jervis Bay School is administered by the ACT Education Directorate on behalf of the Australian Government under a service agreement. This means it is included in the ACT public primary school system and benefits from the same high standards of public education. Key responsibilities:

- Provide individual and small group support to students with disabilities to help them engage in classroom learning and activities.
- Assist teachers to deliver educational programs and support student behaviour and wellbeing.
- Provide personal and health support for students with additional needs.
- Administer medications and implement approved health care plans.
- Help maintain a safe, clean and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Communicate with families and carers about student progress and routine matters, in partnership with teaching staff.
- Carry out basic administrative tasks and assist with classroom equipment setup and maintenance.
- Contribute to school activities and programs that promote student development and community connection.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and families.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative, and make sound decisions.
- Skilled in organising tasks, managing time, and meeting deadlines.
- Confident using information systems, administrative tools, and computer programs.
- Promote equity, diversity, and maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Hold (or be working towards) a Certificate III in Information and Cultural Services, Education Support, or equivalent (desirable but not a requirement)

**Eligibility/Other requirements**:

- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the _Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011_ is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Working with vulnerable people (WWVP) registration (act.gov.au)
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake training.
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a valid working visa.

**Notes**:There are several temporary full-time and part-time positions available from 27 January 2026 with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. Some positions are part-time at up to 15 hours per week and the full-time salary noted above will be pro-rata.
