**Position Information**:
Muswellbrook Public School is located in the Upper Hunter region. It has an enrolment of approximately 431 students, 27% of which identify as being Aboriginal, served by approximately 60 teaching, administration, and support staff. In 2025 we have 18 mainstream classes and one multi-categorical disability support class. The school is dedicated to maximising student outcomes through quality explicit teaching, differentiated learning and extra-curricular opportunities. There is a mix of experienced and early career teachers working collaboratively to provide quality teaching and learning for all students.

We proudly implement the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework and maintain a strong focus on student wellbeing and high expectations.
**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach K-6, and the ability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities of a leadership role.
Visible leadership skills, highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational expertise to lead, inspire, mentor and build collaborative teams and engage the school community in a culture of continuous improvement.
Proven ability to build the capacity of teachers to implement evidence based, personalised teaching and learning strategies and develop effective data systems that improve educational outcomes for students.
Knowledge of and proven ability to implement current research based best practice explicit teaching strategies as well as High Potential and Gifted Education.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
