**The Opportunity**

Do you have a Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics background and are looking for your next role where you can really make a difference?

Our Mitochondrial research team here at The Kids Research Institute has an exciting opportunity available for a Research Officer to join us and support our work towards the prevention of mitochondrial diseases and discovery of effective cures.

In this role, you will manage molecular biology and bioinformatic analyses for a number of projects and assist the team with a variety of duties including analysing genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and metabolomic datasets to identify mutations and analyse the functional effects of mutations in human and mouse genomes.

Working in our modern office facilities, some of your responsibilities will include:

- Manage bioinformatic analyses.
- Perform RNA and ATAC sequencing analyses.
- Conduct complete genome and exome sequencing analyses.
- Contribute to high impact and/or quality publications, manuscripts and reports.

This position will be offered on a full-time basis for 12 months in the first instance, with the possibility of further extension.

**About You**

This position would suit someone with a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Bioinformatics or Genetics coupled with strong experience in Bioinformatics and in analysing transcriptomic and proteomic data. Along with that the key to your success will be your demonstrated skills and experience in:

- Experience in RNA sequencing analyses and ATAC-sequencing analyses.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision and work productively as part of a team.
- Experience supervising and training honours students and other research personnel.
