**Project Officer**
- Provide administrative and research assistance to support a clinical trial addressing depression among people receiving aged care at home.
- Full-time position for 12 months (with the possibility of extension).
- Flexible, hybrid work model in a supportive team.
- $97,417 salary, plus generous salary packaging (up to $18,550 tax free annually) to increase your take-home pay.
**The opportunity**
The Project Officer will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team implementing and evaluating a psychological intervention that aims to reduce depression among older people who receive aged care in the home. The EMBED trial is led by Professor Tanya Davison at Silverchain - one of Australia’s largest home care providers. The trial is funded by the Medical Research Future Fund and conducted in partnership with several leading academics.
The Project Officer will oversee participant recruitment and data collection day-to-day and provide administrative support to both older people taking part in the trial and mental health clinicians delivering the intervention.
The Project Officer will be based in Perth, with an option to spend part of their working week working remotely from home.
**Key responsibilities**
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Managing a group of research assistants recruiting older adults to the trial and collecting outcome data.
- Providing regular progress reports and implementing new processes to improve trial outcomes.
- Assisting with ethics amendments and reporting.
- Responding to adverse events and clinical escalations in line with the trial protocol.
- Scheduling clinical sessions and supporting older adults to access intervention materials and have a positive experience participating in the trial.
- Liaising with care teams and external healthcare providers to ensure older adults’ needs are appropriately addressed.
- Maintaining and auditing records across multiple systems.
- Some direct participant recruitment and data collection may also be required.
**About you**
- Bachelor or Masters degree with a research component (e.g., Honours, Graduate Diploma) in relevant field (e.g., psychology, social science, nursing, allied health).
- Previous experience conducting research in an applied setting, particularly on a clinical trial or other large research project. Please note that laboratory-based research is not considered relevant for this position.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ethics and consent procedures, adherence to trial protocols, and effective participant engagement.
- Strong project management expertise, including in the establishment of project management systems, and monitoring and reporting of outcomes.
- Experience managing or mentoring staff.
The following criteria are also highly desirable and will be assessed at interview:
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage with a range of stakeholders, including healthcare and aged care professionals.
- Experience working with older adults.
- Advanced MS Office skills and familiarity with trial software, such as REDCap.
- Current GCP certification.
- Experience cleaning and analysing data may be advantageous.
