PERSOLKELLY is seeking an Environmental Technical Officer to join our client site on Brisbane's South-Western Suburbs, who is responsible for utilities distribution across various Southeast Queensland Council. ABOUT THE ROLE The purpose of this role is the provision of routine and ad-hoc environmental monitoring and the provision of scientific inputs during environmental incidents. This role works as part of a dynamic team, sampling and analysing a wide variety of water, wastewater and environmental samples for customers across multiple sites including reticulated networks, environmental waters and sewage treatment plants. **PERSOLKELLY** is seeking an **Environmental Technical Officer** to join our client site on Brisbane's South-Western Suburbs, who is responsible for utilities distribution across various Southeast Queensland Council. **ABOUT THE ROLE** The purpose of this role is the provision of routine and ad-hoc environmental monitoring and the provision of scientific inputs during environmental incidents. This role works as part of a dynamic team, sampling and analysing a wide variety of water, wastewater and environmental samples for customers across multiple sites including reticulated networks, environmental waters and sewage treatment plants. **POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES** *** - Perform field duties including routine and non-routine bottle preparation, sampling and analysis in accordance with documented methods and the requirements of the laboratory's NATA accreditation - Work autonomously and in a team environment to provide timely sampling and analytical results - Provide scientific inputs during response to environmental incidents - Enter data on the Laboratory Information Management System, including sample registration and pre-logging of jobs to ensure smooth and efficient despatch of samplers - Calibrate and maintain field and laboratory instruments in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and NATA requirements - Deliver the highest standards of service to our customers by safe handling of samples, materials and equipment, with a focus on individual, team, and customer safety. - Interact with customers and the general public, in potentially challenging circumstances. **ABOUT YOU** *** The role requires the following skills and abilities: - Perform routine and non-routine sample preparation and collection - Maintain and operate a variety of field analytical equipment - Use of computer software to process laboratory analytical data, labelling and provide inputs to the laboratory data system - Work autonomously or as part of a professional team to deliver timely quality outputs to customers. - Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in a field environment - Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities - Well-developed oral communication skills. **KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**: *** This role requires the following knowledge and experience: - Knowledge of laboratory procedures in performing microbiological and/or chemical analysis. - Understanding of and ability to conform to the requirements for NATA accreditation - Proven experience in working in a high-performance team with a strong focus on customer service, participation, outcomes/delivery and accountability through proven attributes of drive, initiative, flexibility, respect for others and fairness. - Significant experience in the safe operation of vehicles in urban, country and off-road conditions **QUALIFICATIONS**: - Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent experience - Experience in aquatic ecology, more particularly ecological surveys including fish and macroinvertebrate monitoring - Boat Licence **Other Special Requirements**: - Possession of "C " Class Manual Drivers Licence - Must be able to participate in on-call roster for after-hours response to environmental incidents and water quality issue If you are excited by the prospect of enjoying a highly rewarding and challenging role, please contact **Ritu **on 07 3255 4811 for a confidential chat.
