Junior Legal Assistant

What are we looking for?

**Permanent Full-Time opportunity | Abuse team | Melbourne**

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a positive, energetic and highly motivated Junior Legal Assistant to join our Abuse team at our Melbourne office. This role is a Permanent Full-Time position.

Our institutional abuse team advances civil claims on behalf of people who have been abused as children in schools, juvenile detention facilities, and in other institutional settings.

Here you will help manage and support the busy practice with one of our experienced lawyers. This opportunity is for someone who is keen to take ownership of their work and work hands on with matters.

This exciting role will be responsible for providing administrative support to a Senior Legal Assistant and a Lawyer. During a typical day as a Junior Legal Assistant, you can expect to be doing the following:

- Filing
- Arranging appointments and diary management
- Talking and corresponding with clients
- Typing legal correspondence and preparing court documents
- Preparing briefs to counsel
- All other administrative tasks (photocopying, archiving files, billing).

What will you bring?

To be successful in this role ideally you will had experience working in an administration, medical or legal role and you may have completed a Business Administration (or similar) certificate or diploma.

It would be great if you had experience in the following:

- Previous experience working in a customer service facing role
- Organised and proactive with a high attention to detail
- Ability to confidently multi-task and prioritise
- A willingness and motivation to learn and develop in legal administration
- An understanding of Microsoft Office and an ability to pick up new software packages quickly
- A genuine passion and desire to work in a Plaintiff Law environment
- Ability to work well with others and a keen willingness to learn
- Are independently motivated and can show initiative
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong and open communication and approachable with others
