Join the Incident Notification and Emergency Response Unit in the Health, Safety and Staff Wellbeing Directorate, where your work will directly impact the safety and well-being of school communities across NSW.
As the Leader, Incident Notification, you’ll lead a team delivering frontline incident reporting services via the Department’s Incident Report and Support Hotline in a busy contact centre environment. You’ll guide and mentor your team to ensure incidents and injuries are accurately reported, triaged, and escalated in a timely manner, making a real difference in high-pressure, real-world situations.
**About the role**:
As a **Leader, Incident Notification**, you will lead a team responsible for managing the Department’s Incident Report and Support Hotline. You’ll play a key role in ensuring timely, accurate, and high quality incident notification and support services across NSW schools and workplaces. The role is central to maintaining the Department’s commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous service improvement.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and mentoring a team to deliver high-quality support and incident notification services in accordance with operational and departmental policies.
- Collaborating with the manager to develop and implement policies, programs, and initiatives that meet the needs of customers across operational directorates.
- Designing and using performance metrics to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of key programs and services.
- Fostering strong working relationships and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to improve incident notification service delivery.
- Monitoring, analysing, and reporting on team performance, identifying trends, emerging issues, and areas for continuous improvement.
- Preparing high-quality reports, briefing notes, submissions, and correspondence to support informed decision-making by senior executives.
- Representing the department on interagency committees and working groups, and ensure after-hours support is available for serious incidents or emergencies.

**About you**:
- Strong team leadership and mentoring skills in high-pressure environments, ideally in a contact centre environment
- Thrives in fast-paced, high-volume contact centre or operational environments
- Demonstrates sound judgement in managing sensitive or high-risk incidents
- Is experienced in using data to track performance and drive continuous service improvements
- Excellent communication skills and builds trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- Brings a working knowledge of WHS principles and incident management practices

**Essential requirements of the role**:
- Working with Children Check for paid employment or willingness to obtain one
- Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
