**About the role**

The Executive Director, Health, Safety and Staff Wellbeing drives the strategic direction and delivery of programs and initiatives that deliver wellbeing and personal resilience capability uplift across the department’s workforce.

The role is also responsible for providing an effective department-wide incident notification and response system. The role drives the management of return-to-work pathways in efficient, compassionate and sustainable ways, while acting to reduce the health and safety risks to the organisation, with a continuous improvement focus that delivers improved wellbeing outcomes for the workforce and organization. This role requires the ability to evaluate data and reports to identify trends and improve safety practices.

**About you**

**To be successful in this role, you will have**:

- Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large, complex organisation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check).
- Willing to obtain security clearance.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
